Would it be ethical to do a study investigating if having sex with a virgin cured AIDS? There are some people who believe this is true. This is the same way I feel about lockdowns. It doesn't matter if they are effective or not. They are unethical from first principles. (Which isn't a statement on whether or not you should go to Woodstock during a pandemic either).
